A new initiative of the CFAV Committee known as a ‘Churchill Breakfast’ was launched at Deloitte’s Melbourne offices on 7 April 2016.

The Churchill Breakfast format is based on three key objectives: to promote Churchill Fellowships to prospective applicants who are invited by Churchill Fellows to attend; to provide networking opportunities for Churchill Fellows in an informal setting; and to elevate the status of Churchill Fellowships and the Churchill Trust among leading thinkers within Victoria.

The Hon. Tim Pallas, Treasurer of Victoria accepted the CFAV Committee’s invitation to present as the inaugural guest speaker.

CFAV President, Ben Nicholson warmly welcomed the Treasurer as well as Mr Paul Tys, CEO, Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and the 48 attendees to the breakfast. The Treasurer provided an overview of the Victorian Government’s expenditure and initiatives in key areas of infrastructure, health and education. He then graciously took questions from eager members of the audience.

At the conclusion of questions, Paul Tys presented the Treasurer with a copy of ‘Inspiring Australians: The first fifty years of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust’ and the Treasurer was pleased to confirm that his brother, Christopher Pallas, was indeed listed at the back of the book as a 1994 NSW Fellow!

The inaugural Churchill Breakfast was a great success, thanks to the Treasurer’s generosity with his time, the delicious breakfast, eager audience and excellent venue.
